Wonderful appetizers! Awesome short ribs and grits. Delicious shrimp tacos. Yummy burgers.

Great new location. We had dinner here last night. Got really lucky and was seated immediately! My wife and I shared everything. A nice bottle of Joseph Phelps wine, fish tacos, shrimp chowder, grilled wedge salad, and e daily special hanger steak! Everything was delicious. EVERYTHING! Met one of the owners! Steve is aeally nice guy. Nice local hot spot with a great vibe! It's a stand-alone building 2 blocks off of the main drag so there is plenty of parking. He shared with me some future plans which sounds really cool. But I won't steal his thunder! You all are in for a real treat!!!

Just OK (service and food). Too many other great options in Fernandina Beach to settle for "just ok". Wife's scallops we're overpowered with bacon seasoning (bacon and obviously cooked in bacon grease), ruined them in my opinion. I got the fried flounder entree, thinking it would be good (figured is local), but the breading was too thick. They basically prepared it "fish and chips" style, which could have just as easily been whiting. Drinks from the bar: first I ordered one of their signature drinks, rum mai tai, thinking it will surely be good. It was not spectacular. So, switched to try an old fashioned with Maker's Mark. Again, mediocre at best. So, they can't possibly mess up crown and Coke right? Ordered a "double crown and Coke in a highball glass". Server had to come back and ask me to repeat my order after he forgot it. Then, he brings me a crown and Coke TALL in full sized glass (full of coke). FAIL!

Updated with recent visit (11/10/17)

Inviting atmosphere to follow with a deviant special of grouper pan seard server over rice and asparagus and topped with a creamy crab sauce.

Below was from our first visit.

Our first visit to this restaurant in one of our favorite cities (Fernandina Beach), Sunday brunch at 801 was a great first impression. I had the oysters and eggs Benedict and some cheese grits. My wife had a short rib dish with home fries. I liked my dish a little better than my wife's. I wish I could recall our server's name, because she was very friendly and attentive. Can't wait to come back and explore the dinner menu.

The fried green tomatoes we're pretty good. Too many other average or below average details from this night, and other in town stellar options, for me to go back to 801.

I was really surprised to find a place so eager to please, and cook it well. I ordered a part of a meal and with substitutions made a meal not on the menu and they were glad to do it. I will definitely go back.
