We just went through the same thing johnathan mentioned below. We tried calling 4 times. No answer. Drove all the way our here for nothing. At 2:30 they turned is away because they has 4 appointments scheduled.
Lovely newly remodeled Fernandina Public Library.
Passport Acceptance location that takes walk-ins (according to Dept. of State Website). Attempted to call six times before driving an hour to the location. Arrived and was advised that they only accept walk-in's when there are no appointments and that the day was already full of appointments. I told them I wouldn't have made the trip if they would have simply answered the phone. She responds that they don't answer the phone when dealing with customers. B.S. Excuse. They could simply use the hold function on the telephone instead of ignore me and got to me after dealing with the customer. She then has the audacity to tell me that they had a cancellation earlier in the day but someone's call who she decided to answer took it. Even though I surely called several times before that lucky one caller. Terrible customer service and terrible policies at this location. Waited for over two hours hoping to be taken care of. There is no good excuse to treat people in such a way. Don't waste a trip here for a passport.
Thank you so much, Janet Loveless, for taking a lot of time to introduce me to the library and help me find lots of SciFi books. This library seems to be a much loved community resource. they still need financial help to buy furniture, and, of course, books!
I used this library to apply for a passport and was very pleased with the service they gave. I called earlier in the day (02/24) to set an appointment and the lady on the phone was very informative and told me I could simply walk-in around 2:30, which I did. There was no wait and the same lady who was on the phone with me took me through the process and was very nice, I managed to be in and out in 15 minutes at most. Would definitely recommend going here for a passport rather than USPS or elsewhere!
Like a previous user said I've called 4 times this morning. Twice I got a message saying "Sorry, this number is busy" Once someone picked up the phone and hung it up and disconnected me. The other time it just rang forever. I'm trying to find out how to register a new library card so I can reserve books online and the website is of no help.
